Ciba EFKA 4061
General EFKA 4061 is a polymeric dispersant for stabilizing inorganic and
organic pigments. This results in:
S improved gloss and DOI
S reduced flooding problems
S higher colour strength
S lower viscosity

Physical Properties Active ingredients : 29 - 31%
Solvents : butylacetate/methoxypropylacetate/xylene
Density at 20 °C : 0.94 - 0.96 g/cm3 DIN 51757
Amine value : 6 - 10 mg KOH/g DIN 16945
Flashpoint : 24 °C ISO 3679
Color : max. 5 ISO 4630
Appearance : clear, to slightly hazy yellowish liquid
Applications EFKA 4061 is used in all types of solvent-based coatings, particularly
high quality industrial coatings such as: automotive topcoats (OEM and
refinish), coil coatings and 2-pack polyurethane coating systems.
EFKA 4061 is also suitable for use in pigment concentrates.
Recommended concentrations
EFKA 4061 should be incorporated in the mill base before adding the
pigments.
Calculation method for the required amount of active ingredients on
pigment:
Inorganic pigments: 10% of oil absorption value
Organic pigments : 25 - 50% of BET value
Carbon blacks : 20% of DBP absorption value

Storage EFKA 4061 should be stored in a cool dry place, preferably at room
temperature (20 °C). When kept in an original unopened container, it
will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. The expiry date is
indicated on the container.
